Pacific Seafood CSR Report 2023

2023 Corporate Social Responsibility Report

Our mission of “feeding the world the healthiest protein on the planet,” goes far beyond the nutrition label. At Pacific Seafood, the word “health” extends beneath the surface. The health of our oceans and marine resources correlates directly to the health of our business. We are committed to the health of our seafood supply, our environment, our innovation process, our communities, and our team members. And while achieving true “health” in all aspects of our business may seem like a daunting task, Pacific Seafood remains committed to achieving excellence, a term we define as “consistently doing your best and always striving to do better.” In light of the growing population and demand for healthy proteins, we have increased our sustainable seafood options - both through our aquaculture programs and sustainably wild harvested seafood - to protect fish stocks now and for years to come ensuring access for future generations. Through the dedication of our team members and vast sustainability partnerships, we are proud to contribute to the responsible management of our oceans and fisheries, while educating others on the importance of sustainable seafood. Our focus on sustainability goes beyond our seafood sourcing. We are committed to setting the industry standard for environmental responsibility through ongoing initiatives to reduce water usage, increase waste reduction, and conserve energy. Our team members made such incredible progress in conserving water that Pacific Seafood was recognized by the EPA with the 2023 Regional Pollution Prevention Award. For us, environmental responsibility and sustainability go hand-in-hand with our commitment to value creation and quality. This year, our teams found new and creative ways to appeal to the growing needs of our customers and consumers while promoting underutilized yet abundant species. In addition, our teams continue to find new ways of achieving our goal of 100% fish utilization. Through all this, our emphasis on quality did not waver but instead elevated the experience for customers and consumers. Above all, we continue to build deeper relationships in the communities where we live and serve. This year, we worked in partnership with local food banks, community organizations, and government bodies to strengthen and grow meaningful relationships while amplifying our commitment to being reliable and responsible partners. We believe that supporting the communities where we operate, and the seafood industry as a whole, is integral to our success. Our vision is to be the employer of choice in our communities. This year we executed on that vision by offering new opportunities to invest in their growth, well-being, and professional development with additional career advancement opportunities, an industry-leading 401k profit sharing, and new processes to gather honest feedback on how we as a company can improve. We are committed to creating a positive and safe work environment for our team members now and for years to come. As we reflect on our journey this past year and look ahead, the spirit of excellence continues to drive us. Pacific Seafood remains committed to finding new ways to provide the world with the healthiest protein on the planet, all while upholding the sanctity of sustainability, environmental stewardship, innovation, our community, and our team members. 9 SUSTAINABLE SEAFOOD ENVIRONMENTAL RESPONSIBILITY VALUE CREATION AND QUALITY SUPPORTING OUR COMMUNITIES SUPPORTING OUR TEAM MEMBERS Pacific Seafood is committed to upholding our responsibilities in nearly every aspect of our business including commitments to improving the environment, continued innovation, giving back to our communities where we operate, and supporting the growth of our team members. It’s these commitments that allow Pacific Seafood to achieve our mission of “Feeding the world the healthiest protein on the planet.” Sustainability & Environmental Responsibility For us, healthy protein is more than just a label. It starts with protecting the environment and the resources that contribute to the health and quality of the proteins we supply. We believe everyone deserves the right to healthy foods without putting a strain on natural resources and wild fish stocks. Through our numerous sustainability certifications, we help to prevent overfishing and promote more sustainable seafood, such as fish and shellfish raised throughout our aquaculture process and other underutilized abundant species. Innovation With our teams dedicated to innovation, Pacific Seafood prevents food waste and promotes the consumption of underutilized species, all while discovering new ways to enhance value and quality. Our commitment and proven success of whole fish utilization would not be possible without our devotion to product development and drive to achieve excellence, which Pacific Seafood defines as “consistently doing your best and always striving to do better.” Our Communities Our commitments to sustainability efforts, environmental impacts, and innovative processes would not have advanced to this stage without understanding the impact on our communities and beyond. We have a responsibility to uphold and improve the current state of the world, whether it is volunteering at a local food bank, picking up debris, or advocating for the collective good of the seafood industry. Pacific Seafood never stops championing the very best for our communities. Our Team Members Finally, none of Pacific Seafood’s commitments would be possible without our team members. We value every team member and commit to providing them with the best advancement, training, and investment opportunities for personal and professional growth, all while working in a safe and respectful environment. WHAT CORPORATE SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY MEANS TO US

SUSTAINABLE SEAFOOD In an effort to achieve excellence, which we define as “consistently doing your best and always striving to do better,” Pacific Seafood continues to find new avenues to improve sustainability efforts, lower our carbon footprint, and protect existing fish stocks. While sustainability is a core belief of the company, it also resonates with the majority of seafood consumers, who feel it’s urgent to protect the oceans and seafood supply. According to a recent Morning Consult Poll, 83% of adults in the U.S. say that the health of the ocean and its ability to provide seafood is personally important. By growing our aquaculture programs and working with our partners to monitor and track fish populations, Pacific Seafood is protecting wild fish stocks now and for generations to come. 11 Certifications 12 Aquaculture 14 Wild Caught

12 SUSTAINABLE SEAFOOD ENVIRONMENTAL RESPONSIBILITY VALUE CREATION AND QUALITY SUPPORTING OUR COMMUNITIES SUPPORTING OUR TEAM MEMBERS Blue Foods Food Production & Greenhouse Gas Emissions According to the World Economic Forum, the demand for blue foods, or food from aquatic sources is expected to double by 2050. Blue foods generally have a lower environmental footprint than many landbased animal-sourced foods, according to a Blue Food Assessment led by Standford University’s Center for Ocean Solution and Center on Food Security and Environment. Pacific Seafood continues to expand our aquaculture capabilities to meet this growing demand. Compared to other proteins, data shows aquaculture has the least effect on the world’s resources. According to the USDA, beef cattle production has several negative impacts on the environment, including greenhouse gas emissions, an issue that is of major global importance, along with the impacts of nutrient losses, water consumption, and fossil energy use. Data shows aquaculture uses 1/6 of the feed required for beef cattle. See page 19 for more on carbon reduction. 13 SUSTAINABLE SEAFOOD ENVIRONMENTAL RESPONSIBILITY VALUE CREATION AND QUALITY SUPPORTING OUR COMMUNITIES SUPPORTING OUR TEAM MEMBERS Black Brant Study Eelgrass Study Pacific Seafood supports a third-party research study that concluded six years of research on Black Brants, a small goose, to understand how oyster farms impact these coastal birds. Research found oyster farms have a positive impact on the bay and provide better opportunities for the geese to get food and provide protection from hunters. Pacific Seafood is in the final year of a six-year research study on eelgrass in California. It’s an important plant species for salmon and birds. Third-party research shows interactions with oyster farms have a positive impact on preventing solar desiccation and help expand areas the eelgrass can grow into. We are in the beginning stages of conducting a similar study in Oregon. 4-Star BAP Certifications Aquaculture Dive Team Supported Studies Pacific Seafood proudly offers 4-star BAP (Best Aquaculture Practices) certified oysters and 4-star BAP certified steelhead. In 2018, Pacific Seafood became the first and only company to offer 4-star BAP oysters. In 2021, Pacific Seafood continued to expand the highest standards of aquaculture practices as the first company to offer 4-star BAP-certified steelhead. Our steelhead are fed BAP-certified feed that mimics a wild steelhead’s diet. Our feed blend uses fish proteins from fish bones, skin, and shells to allow for maximum use of the fish. Thanks to the continuous efforts of our Dive Team, Pacific Seafood has effectively prevented net pen escapes at our aquaculture facilities. Net pen escapes can present risks to the species and the natural environment. Along with 24-hour underwater video surveillance, our Dive Team works around the clock to check pen structures, make repairs, and monitor fish health. 2018 2021 4-Star BAP Certified Oysters 4-Star BAP Certified Steelhead

These partnerships ensure we are not sourcing species that are threatened by overfishing. 15 SUSTAINABLE SEAFOOD ENVIRONMENTAL RESPONSIBILITY VALUE CREATION AND QUALITY SUPPORTING OUR COMMUNITIES SUPPORTING OUR TEAM MEMBERS For West Coast trawl fisheries, independent observers are mandated to work onboard vessels, including Pacific Seafood vessels, as well as our fishing partners, to monitor harvest. Those observers report back to the National Marine Fisheries Service (NMFS) who estimate bycatch, collect biological samples, and monitor fishing activity and gear performance. This data is utilized by biologists, stakeholders, advisors, and fisheries’ managers to determine the health and status of the fisheries and to set sustainable annual catch limits. Pacific Seafood uses an array of excluder devices, both required and chosen by our company to minimize the impact of removing untargeted species from the ocean. As part of our efforts to prevent entanglements in Dungeness crab fishing gear, Pacific Seafood participates in the California Dungeness Crab Fishing Gear Working Group. This partnership allows us to provide and receive guidance from marine experts to avoid and minimize entanglements. Although not required by law, Pacific Seafood’s whiting trawl net utilizes a special escape panel to prevent salmon bycatch. These escape panels are designed to allow salmon to escape based on their natural behavior to swim upwards. Pacific Seafood’s Coldwater shrimp vessels voluntarily use T90 mesh net orientations where the mesh is turned 90 degrees. These nets are designed to reduce the bycatch of baby shrimp. Unlike traditional-style diamond mesh shrimp nets that pull closed and reduce the ability of small, baby shrimp to escape, T90 mesh nets do not pull closed allowing baby shrimp to swim free. Similarly, our shrimp boat partners along the Gulf of Mexico use mandatory Turtle Excluder Devices (TEDs) that allow turtles to escape from trawl fishing gear. These metal and mesh devices fit inside a trawl net and provide an escape hole or “flap” for turtles and larger sea creatures to escape from. Bycatch Reduction Measures Pacific Seafood is dedicated to preventing bycatch, the accidental capture of species not being harvested. Pacific Seafood utilizes best practices from our sustainability partners, excluder device technology, and specialty netting to avoid bycatch. With more than half of the states Pacific Seafood operates in experiencing drought conditions, our company took a big step towards water conservation in 2023 with the launch of a new company-wide initiative, Sustainability Saves. Sustainability Saves Pacific Seafood is committed to protecting vital resources we rely on every day. In 2023, we launched the Sustainability Saves initiative to bring awareness to the fragility of these resources and to increase behavior change among our team members. Our inaugural campaign began with a focus on water conservation. Each year, a different resource is chosen. The newly implemented Pacific Seafood Utility Dashboard tracks water, energy, and natural gas usage across all facilities and is available online for all Pacific Seafood leadership to access, as a way to track success or discover new ways to save. 20 SUSTAINABLE SEAFOOD ENVIRONMENTAL RESPONSIBILITY VALUE CREATION AND QUALITY SUPPORTING OUR COMMUNITIES SUPPORTING OUR TEAM MEMBERS WORLD OCEANS DAY Pacific Seafood is committed to supporting clean and healthy waterways to aid in healthy marine life as well as access to healthy water in local communities. Since the launch of our annual World Oceans Day companywide debris pickup event in 2022, our team members have removed more than 5,700 pounds of debris from local waterways. This debris includes everything from the smallest plastics to large tires. By removing debris, our team members are decreasing the impact of microplastics in local water sources, which can be detrimental to human and animal life. According to NOAA, plastic is the most preventable type of debris found in our oceans, lakes, and rivers. While the health impacts of microplastics are still unknown, researchers estimate that the average person consumes 50,000 microplastics annually. 23 500 lbs DEBRIS COLLECTED 5,213 lbs DEBRIS COLLECTED 2022 2023 Participating Pacific Seafood locations Sourced from National Center for Biotechnology

21 SUSTAINABLE SEAFOOD ENVIRONMENTAL RESPONSIBILITY VALUE CREATION AND QUALITY SUPPORTING OUR COMMUNITIES SUPPORTING OUR TEAM MEMBERS Pacific Seafood continues to discover new and innovative ways to achieve whole fish utilization. Our teams are working closely with leading scientists on the development of a product using hydrolyzed fish protein. This fish protein is used to feed a strain of bacteria that in turn produces toxic proteins against mosquito larvae, providing a natural defense as mosquito-related illnesses increase globally. According to the World Mosquito Program, mosquito-borne diseases kill more than one million people and infect up to 700 million each year. With the demand for fish protein increasing, Pacific Seafood is continuing to work in close collaboration with scientists and engineers to further this research and development. REUSING RESOURCES Pacific Seafood is dedicated to expanding the use of each species we process. With our 100% fish utilization goal in mind, we transform bones, skin, and shells, or what we call “rest protein,” into usable fish meals and oil, fertilizer, pet food, and much more. 36 SUSTAINABLE SEAFOOD ENVIRONMENTAL RESPONSIBILITY VALUE CREATION AND QUALITY SUPPORTING OUR COMMUNITIES SUPPORTING OUR TEAM MEMBERS USDA PARTNERSHIP Through our partnership with the USDA, Pacific Seafood provides healthy seafood to food banks, schools, and Emergency Food Assistance Programs in all 50 states. In 2020, Pacific Seafood began its partnership with the USDA, when we, along with others in the seafood industry, advocated, assembled, and led a historic, national coalition to secure relief for the U.S. seafood industry. Since our partnership began, the USDA has committed to receiving West Coast seafood products from Pacific Seafood and other West Coast seafood processors. According to a 2022 report from the Government Office of Accountability, seafood made up just 1-2% of all animal proteins that the USDA purchased for the program (about 3 oz per student per year) in 2014-2019. Dietary Guidelines for Americans (DGA) recommends school-age children should consume between 4 to 10 ounces of seafood per week. The office recommended the USDA develop a plan to enhance its assistance in providing seafood to students. Pacific Seafood is proud to be a part of that effort and is continuously working to provide more students and their families with healthy West Coast seafood options in all 50 states. Efforts continue to create a long-term partnership with the USDA by advocating for the creation of new programs. Our teams are working closely with a national industry coalition and lawmakers to make revisions to the 2024 Farm Bill to support the creation of an office of Seafood policy and programs at the USDA. This would create new programs aiming to provide more access to seafood in schools, as well as establishing new grant programs such as a Seafood Production Expansion Program to modernize seafood processing, foster efficiency, and bolster resilience in our supply chain. 37 SUSTAINABLE SEAFOOD ENVIRONMENTAL RESPONSIBILITY VALUE CREATION AND QUALITY SUPPORTING OUR COMMUNITIES SUPPORTING OUR TEAM MEMBERS In 2023, Pacific Seafood launched its Coast to Kids initiative with the commitment to supply schools with healthier school lunch options through seafood. Within the first year, Pacific Seafood began supplying three schools in the state of Oregon with Dover sole, Pacific cod, and Coldwater shrimp. Pacific Seafood team members were handson throughout the year volunteering at local schools to promote and educate students about seafood. Our team members proved their passion for seafood with in-person events, such as serving students at lunch, presenting during career day, and hosting school representatives at Pacific Seafood headquarters in Clackamas, Oregon. With support from the Oregon School Nutrition Association, and other school nutrition groups across the United States, Pacific Seafood looks to increase access to healthy seafood for students. Our commitment is evident through the implementation of a robust communication tool, specifically designed to bridge language barriers among team members. This tool not only translates content into the preferred languages of our team members but also fosters more productive interactions between team members who speak different languages. Furthermore, we actively encourage feedback through various channels, including regular surveys and a secure whistleblower hotline. The whistleblower hotline, in particular, is fortified with strict confidentiality and anonymity measures, ensuring that our team members can report any concerns without fear of reprisal. See page 27 for more on forced labor. In accordance with our strict moral and ethical guidelines against forced labor, Pacific Seafood forbids child labor at any of our facilities. In addition, we actively engage with our suppliers and other partners to verify and enforce compliance with these standards, promoting fair and ethical labor practices throughout our entire supply chain. Pacific Seafood’s commitment against human trafficking begins with education. We conduct annual training with all supervisors to recognize signs of human trafficking, which, according to the U.S. Department of State, includes living with an employer, poor living conditions, scripted or rehearsed answers, and much more. In addition, Pacific Seafood requires our trusted suppliers to comply with all human rights laws, including without limitation: prohibitions on child labor, slavery, and human trafficking in countries in which it does business. Just as with our own facilities, our suppliers are subject to random inspections by team members and third-party auditors to ensure compliance.
