Pacific Coast Seafood's is located approximately 1 mile south of the
mouth of the Skipanon River, which is a tributary of the Columbia River,
in the city of Warrenton, Oregon. Pacific Coast Seafood's began its
operations in October 1983 as the first processing facility of The Pacific
Seafood Group. Before the purchase by The Pacific Seafood Group, the
facility was operated by Johnson and Kelliher and New England Fish Company.
Pacific Coast Seafood's facility consists of a 384 foot unloading
dock with 3 dock hoists and is capable of unloading 3 vessels at one
time. Also located at the dock is a 20,000 gallon vessel fueling facility
and an ice plant which is capable of making 2.5 tons of ice per hour
and storing 90 tons. The dock is capable of fueling and icing boats
as they prepare for fishing trips. A great advantage for Pacific Coast
Seafood's is that it is located on the calm waters of the Skipanon River
which makes unloading easier for both the plant and vessels.
The processing facility consists of a 30 station fillet line supported
by 2 Trio skinning machines. This line is capable of filleting an average
of 120,000 pounds of product per day (approximately 36,000 finished
pounds) in a two shift operation. The shrimp operation consists of 4
Laitrim new improved peeling machines which can process up to 50,000
pounds of raw product per day. Crab cooking facilities located at the
facility are capable of processing 80,000 to 100,000 pounds per day.
In 1995 Pacific Coast added automated Surimi, H & G and Fillet line
to its facility, which can process 300 ton of Whiting per day. The Pacific
Seafood Group is the largest shore based Whiting (Hake) processor on
the West Coast.
