Pacific Alaska Shellfish

Nikiski, AK lies 60 miles south of Anchorage and is the site of Pacific Alaska Shellfish, a seasonal plant that focuses solely on Alaskan razor clams. This facility is also our only location that uses a small plane to transport our products from the beach to our processing plant.

The six mile stretch of beach that our clams call home adjoins the pristine waters of Cook Inlet between Polly Creek and the Crescent River. Only accessible from May through August, our razor clams are harvested and immediately flown across the inlet to Nikiski where they are shucked, cleaned, and quickly vacuum packed to ensure freshness. The finished products – "steaks" – are weighed, boxed and then flown to market.

To ensure availability of our Alaska razor clams all year long, we blast freeze a portion of the clam steaks. Razor clams are a Pacific Northwest delicacy traditionally breaded and fried, but they can just as easily be baked, sautéed or used in a tasty chowder.
