How do I properly store seafood?

If you just purchased fresh seafood at your local grocery store, make sure to put it in the refrigerator if you plan on cooking your fish within the next day or two, or in the freezer if you’re saving it for later.

If you plan on cooking and consuming the seafood within two days after purchasing, then it’s OK to store in the refrigerator.

Store Seafood Properly

Otherwise, wrap the seafood tightly in plastic or foil and store in the freezer until you’re ready to thaw and cook it.

If you need to thaw frozen seafood and want to do it properly, simply place it in the fridge to gradually thaw overnight.
