Warrenton, Ore., November 23, 2020
Warrenton, Ore.—Nov. 23, 2020—The Warrenton Hammond School District along with community partners Pacific Seafood, Lum’s Auto Center, and Providence Seaside Hospital have partnered to provide Wi-Fi service to Camp Kiwanilong.
The introduction of Wi-Fi service at the camp allows the school district expand its hybrid/on-site opportunities. Now, up to 400 local students will have access to outdoor education activities while also completing their distant learning with in-person support from district staff. Camp Kiwanilong will also have the added benefit of Wi-Fi year-round which will enhance their community programming.
The camp will be staffed by teaching assistants to support on distant learning needs as well as lead physically distanced outdoor programming. Students participating in on-site or hybrid learning will rotate in their cohorts between the school building, Camp Kiwanilong, and home, to minimize exposure to COVID-19.
“We are so grateful for Pacific Seafood, Lum’s Auto Center, and Providence Seaside Hospital for providing this vital resource to support education. It has been a challenging time for our entire community, but when we come together it’s truly amazing what can be accomplished. Thank you community partners, for investing in our children’s future,” said Tom Rogozinski Superintendent of Warrenton-Hammond School District.
Wi-Fi is currently being installed at the camp, and it is anticipated to be open as soon as mid-December for students in grades 6-8 and later in the year expanding to grades 4-5. Parents interested in learning more should visit https://www.warrentonschools.com/ for more information.
