— A Look Back —

Where It All Began

Pacific Sustainable Seafood has been a family owned and operated Oregon business since its founding in 1941.

Frank M. Dulcich - Market on Powell St.

Founded by Frank M. Dulcich and his son Dominic, the duo had great success as a small fish market on Powell Street in Portland.

Due to their quick success, Pacific was approached by Bay City Oysters Company, one of their competitors who was going bankrupt. Within a few months Dominic got his first supermarket account, Bazaar Big C, which gave Pacific the resources to purchase two more companies.

In 1983, Pacific opened its first processing plant, realizing that going direct to the source could better fill its customer’s demands.

Growing Stronger Every Day

What started as a company with only 18 people, we’ve expanded to ensure we can meet all of our customers’ needs, now and in the future.

Pacific Seafood has grown to employ more than 2500 people at 37 facilities, with processing plants stretching along the Pacific Coast and distribution facilities in seven states. Although the company has grown in size, it is still family-owned and family-focused while always being dedicated to delivering the best seafood products and the best customer service anywhere.

Where We Are Today

To be successful you need strong leadership, integrity and a genuine love for what you do. We’re proud to say our President has all of the above.

Frank Dulcich

Today, Frank Dulcich, the son of co-founder Dominic Dulcich, heads Pacific Seafood.

Under Frank's leadership, the company has grown to be one of the most successful vertically integrated and family owned seafood processing and distribution companies in the Northwest.

No matter how big our team grows or where the future takes us, we will never forget our roots and the guiding principle that Pacific Seafood was built upon. While we could tell you what that is, we think our President says it best.

*We define sustainable, as does Webster’s Dictionary, as “…a method of harvesting or using a resource so that the resource is not depleted or permanently damaged."

Frank’s Statement

For over 70 years, Pacific Sustainable Seafood has served the oceans by harvesting, processing and distributing the best, most delicious seafood to our loyal consumers. It is our responsibility to serve the oceans through a continuous commitment to sustainable* fishing practices. Helping to ensure the future of our oceans means we can continue to serve your family great tasting seafood for generations to come.
