Pacific Whiting Fish Tacos

1 lb Pacific Whiting skin-on fillets
16 small corn tortillas
½ tsp ground cumin
½ tsp cayenne pepper
1 tsp salt
¼ tsp black pepper
1 Tbsp olive oil
1 Tbsp unsalted butter
Fish Taco Sauce:
½ cup sour cream
⅓ cup mayo
2 tbsp lime juice
1 tsp garlic powder
1 tsp siracha sauce
Taco Toppings (Optional):
½ small purple or green cabbage, chopped finely
2 medium avocados, sliced
½ bunch cilantro, longer stems removed
1 cup Cotija cheese, grated
1 lime, cut into wedges
Directions
- Cut fish into portions and pat dry.
- In a small bowl, combine cumin, cayenne pepper, salt, pepper, and olive oil. Whisk lightly.
- Preheat your air fryer to 400°F.
- Brush the seasoning evenly on one side of the fish fillets, getting the edges too.
- Place the fillets in a single layer in the preheated air fryer basket and allow them to cook for 10-12 mins. At 8 minutes place butter pats on top of each fillet.
- While fish is cooking. Combine all taco sauce ingredients in a small medium bowl and whisk until well blended.
- Once fish is cooked and cooled enough to handle, slice fish into small slices.
- To serve the tacos, cook tortillas to your liking on a large skillet over medium/high heat.
- Serve the fish on corn tortilla and finish off by adding your toppings of choice and drizzled with sauce and fresh squeezed lime.
