Pacific Seafood CSR Report 2023

39 SUSTAINABLE SEAFOOD ENVIRONMENTAL RESPONSIBILITY VALUE CREATION AND QUALITY SUPPORTING OUR COMMUNITIES SUPPORTING OUR TEAM MEMBERS HUMAN RIGHTS Pacific Seafood strives for excellence in upholding and defending human rights. Following the UN Guiding Principles of Business and Human Rights and the International Labor Organization’s (ILO) Declaration of Fundamental Principles and Rights at Work, Pacific Seafood is dedicated to creating a safe, healthy, and respectful work environment for all our team members and those working in partnership with Pacific Seafood. Sustainable Labor Child Labor Anti-Trafficking As a company headquartered in the U.S., we not only ensure full compliance with U.S. and local labor laws, covering areas such as fair wages, reasonable working hours, and nondiscrimination policies, but we also strive to exceed these standards. Our commitment is evident through the implementation of a robust communication tool, specifically designed to bridge language barriers among team members. This tool not only translates content into the preferred languages of our team members but also fosters more productive interactions between team members who speak different languages. Furthermore, we actively encourage feedback through various channels, including regular surveys and a secure whistleblower hotline. The whistleblower hotline, in particular, is fortified with strict confidentiality and anonymity measures, ensuring that our team members can report any concerns without fear of reprisal. See page 27 for more on forced labor. In accordance with our strict moral and ethical guidelines against forced labor, Pacific Seafood forbids child labor at any of our facilities. In addition, we actively engage with our suppliers and other partners to verify and enforce compliance with these standards, promoting fair and ethical labor practices throughout our entire supply chain. Pacific Seafood’s commitment against human trafficking begins with education. We conduct annual training with all supervisors to recognize signs of human trafficking, which, according to the U.S. Department of State, includes living with an employer, poor living conditions, scripted or rehearsed answers, and much more. In addition, Pacific Seafood requires our trusted suppliers to comply with all human rights laws, including without limitation: prohibitions on child labor, slavery, and human trafficking in countries in which it does business. Just as with our own facilities, our suppliers are subject to random inspections by team members and third-party auditors to ensure compliance.
